Summary

What is this project about?
It’s a platform for education-focused virtual and hybrid events for students, universities, and others. With numerous features, the platform allows users to set up live content, live chat, on-demand content, and robust analytics in minutes.

What am I going to do?
You will be responsible for managing the interchange of data between the server and the users. Your primary focus will be the development of all server-side logic, definition, and maintenance of the central database with regard to our Integrations System, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from customers.

You will also be responsible for integrating new customers to front-end elements built by your co-workers into the application. Therefore, a basic understanding of front-end technologies is necessary as well.

If you choose to go with this particular project you will work closely with a client's team as well as a React Engineer and Project Manager from our side.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of working experience with Rails;

  • Experience with Ruby on Rails, along with other common libraries such as RSpec,

  • Capybara, Sidekiq, ActionCable, ActiveRecord;

  • Understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances;

  • Understanding of relational databases

  • Understanding of object-oriented programming

  • Understanding of server-side API payloads and JSON API

  • Familiarity with concepts of MVC, Mocking, ORM, and RESTful;

  • A knack for writing clean, readable Ruby code;

  • Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system;

  • Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application

  • Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests, and familiarity with - continuous-integration;

  • Proficient understanding of code versioning and Git;

  • Familiarity with development aiding tools NPM, Yarn, Bower, Bundler, Rake, Pry.
Would be a plus:

  • Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3;

  • Basic understanding of modern JS libraries like Ember CLI or React.
We expect you to:

  • Design, build and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Ruby code;

  • Perform the integration of database and file storage solutions;

  • Perform integration of user-facing elements developed by front-end developers with server side logic

  • Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems;

  • Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
